Purpose Projects is dedicated to creating a sustainable difference overseas, and developing our communities back home.
Purpose Projects is NOT interested in voluntourism! Voluntourism combines volunteering and tourism and has been criticised heavily for placing the volunteers' experience ahead of the community served.
Our trips aren't just feel-good vacations. We work one-on-one with each volunteer to help them understand what it really means to be part of a community.
We only work with local partners who understand their communities. This ensures sustainable impact is going to the right places.
We want all of what we learn overseas to help us understand what we can do for our own communities back home.
The Value of Volunteering
The biggest, sustainable value the volunteers bring is their donation to the construction of the large-scale project they support. This is permanent infrastructure that is designed and operated by the community, for the community.
Without these donations, this infrastructure would simply not exist in the communities.
The volunteers obviously learn a huge amount while working in the communities, however, we also maximise their individual impact by utilising their unique teaching, medical and business skills which are extremely rare in the regions we work in.
